Casillero del Diablo launches an on-pack promotion for this year’s AEGON Masters Tennis

Chilean wine brand Casillero del Diablo from Concha y Toro has launched a dedicated on-pack promotion to celebrate being appointed the official wine sponsor of the AEGON Masters Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall this December.

On-shelf now, the promotion will offer consumers the chance to win VIP packages to the AEGON Masters Tennis, including tickets, complimentary Casillero del Diablo, signed merchandise and £200 spending money.

The promotion will run across the premium positioned Reserva Privada Sauvignon Blanc and Reserva Privada Cabernet Sauvignon Syrah wines, in addition to the Casillero del Diablo Sparkling Brut Chardonnay. Participating retailers include Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Waitrose.

Commenting on the promotion, Concha y Toro marketing manager Jason Duggan said: “With its season-ending status on the ATP Champions Tour, the AEGON Masters Tennis is one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments held in the UK. We are delighted to continue as the official wine sponsor of this tournament and look forward to seeing Tim Henman’s debut at the event.”

To enter the competition you can visit the Casillero del Diablo website (www.chileanlegend.com), which builds on the Chilean legend created by Don Melchor, the founder of the Concha y Toro winery. When the Don discovered that some of his finest Concha y Toro wines had been stolen, he spread word that the devil lived in his cellar to ward off potential thieves. From that day onwards, the wine has been known as Casillero del Diablo, the devil's cellar.

Tim Henman makes his return to competitive tennis this December

In his first appearance on the ATP Champions Tour, the former World No.4 and four-time Wimbledon semi-finalist will compete against many of his old rivals at the ever-popular event, which is now in its 14th year.

Since ending a 14-year professional career in September 2007, Henman has played tennis in public only once - in an exhibition match last year to launch the new roof on Wimbledon's Centre Court. Now, he can't wait to return to training ahead of the event at the Royal Albert Hall where he will play at least three round-robin matches against some of the best and most popular tennis players in history.

"Having had a break for two and a half years, I'm really looking forward to playing tennis again" said Henman, who began his transition back into the game by joining the All England Club committee and commentating on Wimbledon for BBC Television.

"For me there could be no better place to start to play tennis again than at the Royal Albert Hall in the AEGON Masters Tennis. I always felt that if I started to play tennis again it would be in London first. The event has been going for 14 years, the Royal Albert Hall is such a special place to play and I've seen the event grow in stature and the competition get better and better. I'm really looking forward to seeing how my game holds up and hopefully it will be the first event of many for me on the ATP Champions Tour."

Yet, like almost every major player over the past decade or so, from John McEnroe to Pete Sampras, Stefan Edberg to Pat Rafter, and of course Henman's old nemesis Goran Ivanisevic, the bug to play and the chance to do so at the competitive yet convivial AEGON Masters Tennis tournament, was too much to resist. He had commentated on the sport at Wimbledon for a couple of years, and finally realised that he missed playing the game.

"I am ready to add playing tennis to my schedule again because I feel like I've had a good break and my appetite for being on the court and hitting balls is returning" said Henman.

"To have the AEGON Masters Tennis on the horizon is a good goal to work towards. It's a good reason to get off my backside, get in the gym and get fitter. I saw a lot of the final between Rafter and Edberg last year and it was impressive. They're both in great shape and they both look a lot younger than their years so I'm going to have to work hard to make sure my game matches up well. First and foremost I want to play well because tennis has always been a huge passion of mine and to play well in London in front of a British crowd is another incentive. But at the end of the day, these tournaments are to be enjoyed, and if you don't come away with the right result then it's not the end of the world. To know that I'll be able to play with less pressure will make it extra enjoyable."

Henman picks Murray for Wimbledon

Tim Henman has thrown his weight behind compatriot Andy Murray's chances ahead of Wimbledon.

Asked about Murray's chances of going a step further than he managed and reaching the Wimbledon final, Henman was bullish.

“I really think Wimbledon could be Murray’s,”

“He played great last year getting through to his first semi and I think he was very disappointed to lose to Roddick. All credit to Roddick for the match that he played because it was phenomenal. But I think Murray's matured again, he's improved, his game is better, he's got 12 months more experience and I think he's got every chance of winning what would potentially be his first Grand Slam title.”

Henman welcomes Ivanisevic rematch

Tim Henman has welcomed the opportunity to take on Goran Ivanisevic again after the Croatian signed up to play in the AEGON Masters Tennis tournament at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Henman, who announced in March that he would play on the ATP Champions Tour for the first time in the ever-popular event at the Albert Hall in December, will be joined by Ivanisevic, who won their epic, rain-delayed semi-final at Wimbledon in 2001 before going on to take the title. Elsewhere, defending champion Pat Rafter became the third man to sign up for the event.

"I would love to play Goran again," said Henman, who led their career head-to-head 4-1 when they retired. The last time they played was in that five set classic at Wimbledon.

"Our match from 2001 in the semis of Wimbledon was such a unique match and such a special match because it was of such huge importance to both of us. To play over three days in the semis of a Grand Slam is very, very rare and there were so many swings and roundabouts. If there's one match that people want to talk about with me it's probably that match and I think other people have a far bigger issue about it than I do. People think I should hold this big grudge against Goran but he was always a great mate of mine on the Tour and I've seen him hundreds of times since then. So I'll look forward to playing him again and hopefully beating him this time."
