Ivanisevic, Rafter, Henman reunite for ten year anniversary

It is ten years since Goran Ivanisevic, Pat Rafter and Tim Henman combined to create many of the most compelling stories in Wimbledon history, and the trio will reunite alongside John McEnroe at the Royal Albert Hall, 30th November – 4th December.

Ivanisevic, the 2001 Wimbledon champion, runner-up Rafter, and beaten semifinalist Henman have announced that they will all be part of the AEGON Masters Tennis field at the Albert Hall. Tickets are now available.

Last Tuesday, to mark the 10-year anniversary, BBC Radio 5 Live staged a special live show at the Hurlingham Club – ‘An Audience With Goran Ivanisevic’, with hundreds of fans present who had been in the crowd at Wimbledon on the final Monday clash between Ivanisevic and Rafter.

In an hour of nostalgic chat, Ivanisevic and his fans shared memories of the match and its aftermath, and the Croatian revealed stories few had heard before.

As well as detailing his famous superstitions – using the same car park space each day, the same shower, eating the same food every night, sitting in the same courtside chair and of course watching the Teletubbies every day – Ivanisevic told how his clothing sponsor had only sent him two shirts for the entire two weeks.

“They expected me to lose in the first round!” said Ivanisevic, a wild card who had been ranked No.125 when he arrived through the gates in 2001.

“I kept having to wash the shirts because they were lucky. I still have one of them at home.”

For the final 30 minutes of the show, Ivanisevic was joined on stage by Mark Philippoussis and Henri Leconte. Leconte, Mansour Bahrami and Pat Cash will all be part of the field at the ever-popular AEGON Masters Tennis.

Ivanisevic is already looking forward to it, particularly the opportunity to play Rafter and Henman again. He defeated both of them at the AEGON Masters Tennis last year.

“The Royal Albert Hall is a beautiful place to play tennis, and I will beat Pat again, so I am looking forward to it,” said Ivanisevic.
